About National Payment Gateway (GPN)


The National Payment Gateway (GPN) is an integrated system for payment instruments and transaction channels in Indonesia. With GPN, all payment transaction instruments such as ATM cards, debit cards and credit cards are all connected with payment transaction channels in Indonesia.

 

With GPN, all debit card owners from a certain bank can do transactions through ATM machines or Electronic Data Capture (EDC) instruments from other banks anywhere in Indonesia. GPN eliminates all existing limits where banking access or transactions can only be conducted on the same bank or through a machine with the same logo as printed in the cards.

 

Before the GPN exists, not all cards can be accepted in the payment machines with different logo. For example, a certain ATM card can only be used for transaction in the ATM machine with the same logo as printed on the card. A Prima ATM card cannot be used for transaction on other machines without Prima logo. A Visa debit card cannot be used for transaction on the EDC machines which only accept Prima debit cards.

 

Even if a card could be used for a machine with different logo, the banks charge is quite high, around 3% of the value of transactions. It is caused by the transaction is processed using international payment gateway. By using the GPN, the transaction fee to merchant is only 1% and it is more efficient.

 

 Since Jan. 1, 2018, ATM/debit card issuers have started to also issue ATM/debit card with GPN logo printed on it.

 

BTPN started issuing Jenius ATM/debit card with GPN logo starting in July 2018. Customers can order and make x-Card Jenius GPN directly from the Card Center menu in the Jenius application. The process of making the x-Card Jenius GPN takes 2-3 working days from the date of the making.
